I always find these posts a bit of a challenge — how do you say hi to a stranger through the written word without coming across as dry, self-absorbed, boring, or any other negative connotation? Honestly, if this goes horribly wrong, let’s just pretend it was written by my evil twin!

Ultimately though, this page is about my personal journey — the good, the bad, and the gloriously ugly of it. So the start point should probably be a loose introduction to me.

You’ve likely already gathered that I am a female-presenting transgender individual. The “easy” term would probably be “Trans Woman” — but there’s very little about me that’s easy or straightforward. Truthfully, I don’t categorise myself into any of the neat little boxes we’re all supposed to fit into.

That both simplifies and complicates things. It’s easy because it’s almost impossible to misgender, mispronoun (is that a thing? let’s pretend it is!) or otherwise refer to me incorrectly — every descriptive term available is simultaneously correct and incorrect.

I am, in the words of the Eels (showing my age here), a ‘beautiful freak’ — and I am utterly comfortable with that.

However…

I made a HUGE realisation over the course of 2024/2025: I was deeply unhappy in my male-presenting form. I’ll dive into this more in a later post, but in short — I realised that all of the best parts of me lived within my female-presenting persona. I am happier, kinder, braver, stronger, more vulnerable, and ultimately more me.

So I made the decision to start presenting as female on a permanent basis.

I can feel you have questions! Here’s a quick FAQ to tide you over until later posts:

  • Am I trying to be a woman? — No.
  • Am I playing dress-up? — No.
  • Am I undergoing surgery to achieve my end result? — Yes.
  • Will I be undergoing hormone therapy? — No.
  • Is “passing” a big deal for me? — No. Being fabulous is a far more achievable (and motivating) goal!

So this is my story, my journey, my voice.

I am writing this both as therapy for myself and in the hope that it might help someone else feel seen, accepted, and validated.

On that note — I will always add my email to every post. If you (or anyone you know) ever needs a friendly, supportive ear, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I am Lisa.

This is my world.

Welcome.
