About Me – The Interview!
These ‘getting to know you’ posts can be a drag can’t they!
So, following the ‘welcome’ post I figured you wonderful humans might like to get to know your host a little better.
Now, it is not lost on me that this whole blog is about me and my journey (narcissist alert) but sometimes it is good to peek behind the mask a little so I thought I would do something a little different here. In actual fact, the process of this did challenge me more than I thought it would!
What I did was ask Chat GPT to pretend to be the worlds foremost celebrity interviewer (yes, I truly did do that) and draft me an interview. I then answered the questions and have added them below.
Hopefully this is an enjoyable and insightful read for you (if not, feel free to email me and tell me, email at the bottom)!
Lissy’s ‘About Me’ Interview Workbook
🎤 The Ultimate “About Me” Interview for Lissy
✨ Let’s start with the basics:
1. What’s your name, and how would you describe yourself in just three words?
Lisa Dempster – Friendly, Caring, Damaged
2. Where do you feel most at home in the world?
Laganas beach – Zakynthos – To me it is one of the most beautiful places!
3. If someone only had one minute to know you, what’s the one thing you’d want them to understand?
I connect with people quickly – probably too quickly. If I care about you and/or think of you as a friend I will go to the end of the earth and back to support you, and expect nothing in return. So if I offer my help, please accept it, it is always from a place of love. Nothing makes me happier than seeing others win!
I also text/whatsapp far too much so if I get annoying, tell me to stop – I won’t be offended!
🔍 The deeper side:
4. What’s the biggest lesson life has taught you so far?
Sometimes you can live a total lie without even realising it. We always think our perception of ourselves is infallible. But that is not the case, sometimes you can be so utterly convinced that you are or are not something because of the actions of others.
Always, make sure you base your self perception on lots of sources of evidence to make sure you have the full picture.
5. What’s something about your journey that you’re proudest of?
I think just making it this far is an achievement, I almost didn’t. Outside of that I think finally being true to myself and living on my terms makes me proud – although that is still a work in progress and I carry a lot of guilt around the process.
6. Was there a moment when you realised you were stepping into your true self?
Yes, there absolutely was. I remember it so clearly, I had been working with a counsellor for about 8 months and journalling a lot around struggles i was having outside of my gender identity. One day I was out running (all my best ideas come to me when I am running) and it just clicked, at that point I knew that in order to live my life the way I wanted to I had to leave all of my previous baggage behind and commit to becoming the best version of myself – that version is Lisa!
🌈 The fun and fabulous:
7. What’s your go-to karaoke song (and be honest, even if it’s embarrassing!)?
I have only ever done karaoke once so don’t have a ‘go to’ but I reckon at the moment it would likely be freedom by George Michael (the legend)
8. Describe your dream outfit that makes you feel unstoppable.
I think I am a bit of a simple girl at heart but a pair of jeans that fit perfectly, some gorgeous heels and a cute top would probably do that for me!
Either that or my triathlon kit.
9. What’s your ultimate guilty pleasure?
Good question, I know this isn’t a ‘guilty pleasure’ by definition but I am a chocolate addict, Cadburys Dairy Milk to be exact.
📊 The realness:
10. What’s something people often misunderstand about you?
That I am strong, or brave, or confident or anything along those lines. I spend a large portion of my life utterly terrified. Especially within the milestones of this journey. One of the reasons for this blog is to show that it is fine to be scared, fine to feel weak but you can still do the things that scare you.
One of my mantras is that being comfortable in discomfort is a superpower.
11. How do you handle days when your confidence feels a little shaky?
At the moment I cry – lol – crying is a revelation to me, I never used to allow myself to cry until one day, after speaking to one of my dearest friends about what I was planning I broke down in the car, since then I have cried a lot!
12. What’s one thing you would tell your younger self if you could?
You are worthy of love, just for being you, not for what you can do for others.
🌟 The playful quickfire round (first thing that pops into your head):
13. Heels or trainers?
Trainers – tough call though
14. Lip gloss or lipstick?
Lipstick, gloss is a recipe for hair based disaster
15. Summer or winter?
Summer, no question
16. Night owl or morning person?
Can I be both?
17. Text or voice note?
Text – never voice note me – ever
18. Diamonds or pearls?
Diamonds
19. Saturday night out or Sunday morning chill?
Sunday morning chill
❤️ The heart of it all:
20. What drives you to keep growing and evolving?
I just want to be the best version of me. I don’t feel like I have ever really been true to myself, I have always tried to live by other peoples perception of what is right, wrong or expected.
I have done some cool stuff over the years and do not want to diminish that but I also feel now is the time to allow myself to be me.
21. How do you want people to feel when they come across your blog and your story?
Uplifted, inspired, happy but above all else to understand that it is ok to not have all the answers, it is ok to be a hot mess and it is ok to feel completely and utterly broken – sometimes – but you are not alone and there are people who want to help pull you up and to help you heal.
22. What’s your vision for the woman you’re becoming?
She is loving, soft, caring, vulnerable but also fierce, protective, powerful and an advocate for everyone who cannot find their own voice.
🎬 And finally:
23. If your life were a movie, what would be the title?
From the fall to the rise – a tale of rebirth
24. What song would play over the closing credits?
I think it would have to be Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls
So there we go – my celebrity interview 😉
